GPS & GIS

GPS Gear at workGPS Surveys allow high accuracy measurements to be made without the necessity of a clear line of site between points. Using several receivers that collect data transmitted from satellites orbiting earth, a surveyor can determine his position on the ground to within a centimeter (about the size of a dime) of his actual location. This allows the surveyor to work in extraordinary terrain, measure long baselines of 5-20 miles, and use one-man field crews to name just a few examples. GPS technology is one of the fastest growing and efficient means of measurement available in the world. U.S. Surveyor is committed to the continued support, education, and project use of the Global Positioning System for the benefit of our clientele.

All of our GPS surveys -- mission planning, field survey, and post processing are done "in house" allowing us to maintain quality control and timeliness. This highly accurate survey tool can be an economic benefit and time saver on many projects, allowing a cost savings to our clients.

U.S. Surveyor has been utilizing the Glonass global satellite positioning equipment for over ten years. This is the most sophisticated GPS equipment that is available in the private sector today. This system produces conventional survey accuracy with the speed and maneuverability of GPS equipment.

The Glonass system utilizes the GLONASS satellites, which have been declassified by Russian Space administration in addition to the United States constellation or GPS satellites. This combination of satellites enhances the survey speed, accuracy and results in more reliable surveys.

U.S. Surveyor also provides "turnkey" data collection and data conversion for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). We specialize in site-specific data generation and GIS project development.

Geographic Information Systems are widely used in many disciplines today to help facilitate better management of data in a graphic manner. The experienced professionals at U.S. Surveyor can help our clients achieve their goals and increase efficiency.

U.S. Surveyor has the complete capability for locating and describing the constructed and natural environment. Conventional, aerial, and satellite guided GPS/GIS methods meet a wide range of legal, mapping, design, construction, and data collection needs. U.S. Surveyor's capabilities in surveying and GIS provide the visual and legal basis for locating property, identifying land attributes, tying parcels to the earth, and relating property to its surroundings.
